Since its founding in 2002, the Andover High School Theatre Department has produced two full length productions each year. In addition to the fall play and spring musical, the department also undertakes a one act play that is entered into competition through the Minnesota State High School League. All students within the school are welcome to participate in the department. Auditions are held and tech crew members are selected for each production. Additionally, the department houses the Andover Theatre Drama Club and Acting I, II and III courses. There are many ways to get involved with the Theatre Department at Andover High School and we hope that you do! We also have opportunities for parents to help support the department through our Andover High School Drama Parents Organization (AHSDPO).

Through our productions and courses, our students have the opportunity to learn the craft of theatre. The Acting I, II and III courses can be taken as an elective in your Freshman - Senior years. Extra-curricular positions are available both on-stage and off and we welcome novices and veterans alike.

Award winning theatre

Each year our students have the opportunity to compete and receive outside feedback through a number of avenues. Our students have been honored with awards from the Minnesota State High School League and The Hennepin Theatre Trust's Spotlight Awards. We couldn't be more proud!

amazing adventures

In-state, out of state and out of the country, our students have the opportunity to experience theatre across the globe. Frequented destinations are New York City, London and even our amazing theaters right here in the Twin Cities.
